To the reviewers, with love

When I partnered with Happily Booked PR to share my stories with more readers, I had one big goal in mind: 50 reviews on Amazon.

That’s not just a vanity metric—it’s the magical threshold indie authors aim for because conventional wisdom (and, let’s be honest, Amazon’s mysterious algorithm) says your book doesn’t really get traction until you hit 50 reviews.

Well… we made it.

As of today, Holland, My Heart has officially hit 50 reviews on Amazon. She’s sitting pretty with a 4.0 rating there, a 4.59 on Goodreads (💖 with 191 ratings!!), and 4.1 stars on Audible.

I’m floored. I’m grateful. And I’m throwing a one-woman dance party in my kitchen.

But let’s talk about you.

Because these numbers? They don’t happen by accident. They happen because of readers like you—thoughtful, generous, curious readers who took a chance on a queer contemporary romance inspired by the book of Ruth and then turned around and shouted, “You’ve got to read this!”

You left glowing reviews. Honest reviews. Reviews that made me laugh, cry, and commit to writing Naomi’s own HEA.

Reviews of HMH I’m loving right now:

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“I really enjoyed this story! The attraction between Kai and Holland was fantastic! Loved Kia's patience and deep love for Holland! I loved the reaction she gave him when he mentioned the kids' shower! Just a great book!” —LaRae on Amazon

⭐⭐⭐⭐
“Being raised as a Christian (JW), it's interesting see a modern take on a classic Biblical story! I genuinely went to bed each night listening to a cassette tape of Bible stories and these characters were like childhood friends to me so I love reconnecting with them now as an adult!
The story of Ruth & Naomi (& Orpah) is always one that has tugged at heartstrings. I've always admired the band between these women and the remarkable resilience of them all through the losses they had to endure. Each character’s unique identity was excellently portrayed.
The main characters Holland (Ruth) and Kai (Boaz) were both delightfully charming and relatable. The audio version was well produced & I truly enjoyed every second. One of the better audiobooks that I have listened to in a while.
I loved the concept of this series based on the stories of Bible women and look forward to seeing (or hearing) what comes next!
Thank you to the author and Happily Booked PR for the advance listener copy of this incredible rendition of a classic Bible story!”

⭐⭐⭐⭐
“What a beautiful story. And let me tell you... it is really slow-burn.
But that's also the charm of Hollands and Kai’s story.
And the real star is Naomi 😁 I love this woman.” —Julia on Amazon (with whom I could not agree more!)

And now for When Ivy Met Adam

The review window for WIMA is just opening up, and I’m dreaming big again.
Why? Because 155 of you signed up through Happily Booked PR to read and review this story that means so much to me.

Let me say that again: One hundred and fifty-five readers raised their hands to read a book that is deeply LGBTQIA+, deeply angsty, and deeply me.

And already, the early reviews are pouring in:

  • Audible: 4.6 stars (5 ratings!)

  • Goodreads: 4.25 stars from 79 ratings and 69 reviews

  • Amazon: 40 customer reviews and a 4.1-star rating from 43 global readers

I could cry. (Again. I probably will.)

What you can do next (besides send me tissues)

If you’ve read Holland, My Heart, When Ivy Met Adam, or any indie book that made you feel anything—please, please, please:

⭐ Leave a rating.

✍️ Leave a review (even if it’s short).

🧡 Tell a friend.

I know life gets busy. I finish books in the dead of night too. I’ve thought “I’ll review it later” more times than I can count. But that quick 5-star click with a 15-word note makes a huge difference.

Indie authors don’t have marketing departments. Our readers are our marketing department. And you’re doing a damn good job.

More coming soon, because y’all are blowing me away. And if you’ve left a review lately—thank you. From the bottom of my bookish heart. And to the wonderful people at Happily Booked PR, I couldn’t have done it without your help! Thank you!
